Stanley biopic screening in Northeast Harbor

MOUNT DESERT — The documentary “Ralph Stanley: An Eye for Wood” will be screened at the Northeast Harbor Library on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 5:30 p.m.

The Jeff Dobbs production was written by Mount Desert resident Gunnar Hansen, a former library board chairman. Local musician Bob Bowman contributed the soundtrack, and the narrator is former state senator and story teller Dennis Damon.

Stanley received a National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1999, which was presented in Washington, D.C., by the then-first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, who called him a living treasure. He also was proclaimed a Maine boat builder laureate by then-Governor Angus King.

This showing is free and open to the public, but space could be limited.
