MOUNT DESERT — The Chebacco boat Lewis H. Story docked in Somesville on Saturday.

The vessel, a replica of the one used by Mount Desert Island’s first permanent settler Abraham Somes in 1762, was brought to the area by the MDI Historical Society. William Horner of Bar Harbor dressed up and played the part of Somes.

On Thursday, July 18 from 5 to 7 p.m., the Great Harbor Maritime Museum in Northeast Harbor will host an event. From Friday, July 19 to Sunday July 21, the Lewis H. Story will be available to the public for brief sailing excursions out of Northeast Harbor.
