CASTINE With Maine Maritime Academy’s 74th year coming to a close – and its diamond jubilee just around the corner – the school has notched another distinction in a ranking of colleges across the country.

Many of the school’s grads find well-paying jobs in the maritime industries, and for two years in a row, “Money” magazine has ranked MMA the nation’s top public college for its job placement rate.

The Brookings Institution, a nonprofit public policy think tank, gave the Castine institution a perfect score in a ranking of graduates’ earning potential. Only 14 other four-year institutions in the United States scored 100 points in the ranking.
