AUGUSTA — Lieutenant Marlowe Sonksen retired last week after a 30-year career in the Marine Patrol.
Sonksen began his career in the Marine Patrol in 1985 and steadily rose through the ranks. In 1998, he was promoted to marine patrol specialist. In 2000, he received a promotion to the rank of sergeant. In 2013, he was promoted to lieutenant in charge of special services, overseeing a broad range of issues from technology to training.
During a special ceremony at the DMR offices June 25, Sonksen was recognized by DMR Commissioner Patrick Keliher and Colonel Jon Cornish. “He’s a consummate professional who excelled at every stage of his career,” a statement from the DMR said.
