AUGUSTA — The Maine Department of Marine Resources (DMR) has put its online license renewal program on hold while it tries to iron out some technical problems. Anyone who has not renewed their 2015 license for a limited entry fishery (including scallops, urchin, lobster, elver and sea cucumber) must do so by Dec. 31 or risk losing eligibility to obtain that license in 2016.
According to the DMR, the development of the new license renewal system has encountered delays, and the department is working to solve the problems. License holders are advised to check the department website for updates on when the online renewal system will be available.
Applications for new 2016 licenses are available on the department website, or they can be obtained through the mail.
