Fisherman’s forum is this weekend

ROCKLAND — David Carraro from the TV show “Wicked Tuna” and first mate Sandro Maniaci are among the special guests planned for the 40th annual Maine Fisherman’s Forum, set for March 5-7 at the Samoset Resort.

The forum is a three-day event that’s part professional conference, part continuing education, part policy debate and part family reunion with great food. It’s the largest event of its kind in New England – one dedicated to offering fishermen, clammers, lobstermen, aquaculturists and other related seafood industry participants an opportunity to meet on neutral ground with fisheries managers, state representatives, congressmen and senators.

More than 30 seminars are offered on different subjects related to the fishing industry, gear regulations, etc. In addition, there are family programs, a trade show, a seafood reception highlighting Maine’s seafood, a banquet/dance on the last night, as well as a benefit auction to raise money for kids from seafood families.

There is no cost to attend seminars, tradeshow or auction. Visit mainefishermensforum.org.
