Clam flats reopened

TRENTON — The Maine Department of Marine Resources announced June 28 that the section of the Jordan River between Trenton and Lamoine closed to shellfish harvesting in May is open again.

The pollution concern came from a septage hauling business, state officials said, and it has since been resolved.

The closed area included both the east and west shores of the Jordan River. On the west side, the northern boundary of the closed area was where Crippens Brook flows into the river. The closed area extended south for about 725 yards
