A maritime Christmas

SEARSPORT — The Penobscot Marine Museum presents a Victorian Christmas event Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7 and 8 from 4-7 p.m.

The museum’s 19th-century sea captain’s house will be decorated for Christmas by local businesses and organizations. A gift shop will be open for holiday shopping, and there will be a family-friendly ornament craft. Admission is free for the event and donations are welcome.

As part of Victorian Christmas, the museum will also be holding a gingerbread lighthouse competition on the evening of Friday, Dec. 8. There is a $5 registration fee for the adult competition, with the winner receiving 50 percent of the proceeds. The other 50 percent will support museum programming. The children’s competition is free, and the winner will receive a small prize.
