SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Selectmen are to consider a change in the number of permits issued for vendors using a roadside pull-out on south Main Street near the Manset Corner intersection.
The current system allows for six permit holders, half of them using the area on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the other half on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Town Manager Don Lagrange proposed the change, citing the desire of vendors to increase their presence and the lack of people coming forward for the unused permits.
Selectmen suggested issuing two permits to the same vendor instead of changing the ordinance so there would be only three permits valid for all days of the week. Lagrange is to return with a proposal at the board’s Oct. 25 meeting.
