BAR HARBOR — It was anticipated that 125 students who live off of Mount Desert Island and whose hometowns pay tuition for them to attend MDI High School would be enrolled this year, the same number as last year.
As of last week, there were 141 tuition students.
That means the school will receive about $185,000 more in tuition payments than was budgeted. That amount will be carried over to next year.
Overall, high school enrollment is 541, nine more than this time last year.
Of the tuition students, 46 are from Trenton, 38 from Lamoine, 30 from Hancock, 20 from Swans Island, five from the Cranberry Isles and one each from Frenchboro and Blue Hill.
