Trenton fatal crash victims identified

TRENTON — Police have released the names of the two people who died Tuesday morning when their car drifted into the opposite lane and struck a commercial truck head-on.

The driver of the car, Mary “Mimi” Massucco, 75, of Mount Desert, and her passenger, Dawn Meardy, 45, of Bar Harbor, died as the result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The truck driver, Adam Keeler, 21, of Trenton, was taken by ambulance to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth for treatment of injuries.

According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, Massucco was southbound on Route 3 near Ellsworth Chainsaw around 8:45 a.m. when her 2008 Pontiac crossed into the oncoming lane. Keeler, driving a 2000 Sterling truck owned by Lane Construction, attempted to avoid the crash by veering into the southbound lane. The vehicles collided near the center of the road.

A section of Route 3 was closed for five-and-a-half hours while sheriff’s deputies reconstructed the accident. Traffic was rerouted along the Oak Point and Bayside roads and the Jordan River Road.

Maine State Police, Hancock County Emergency Management and fire departments from Trenton and Lamoine assisted the sheriff’s department at the scene.
