Trails reopen after nesting

ACADIA NAT’L PARK — Trails that have been closed since mid-March to protect peregrine falcons from disturbance during their nesting period are being reopened today (Thursday).

The nesting sites were at the Precipice on Champlain Mountain, Valley Cove and Jordan Cliffs.

Acadia officials said five falcon chicks fledged this year, down from 11 last year.
