SOUTHWEST HARBOR — The town’s annual holiday celebration is set for Friday and Saturday and is to include a visit from Santa Claus, a bonfire and performances of Acadia Community Theater’s production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.”
Organizers hope that all the fun brings in shoppers as well. A craft fair is scheduled for 3-7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Offerings include holiday-themed items.
Don’t feel like baking for the holidays? A cookie sale to benefit the Pemetic Music Boosters will be held from 4-7 p.m. at the Harbor House building on Main Street.
At 5:30 p.m., Santa will catch a ride aboard one of the town’s fire trucks to the Village Green where he will light the town’s Christmas tree. From there, he will travel across the street to the municipal parking lot where he’ll join the crowd briefly at a bonfire before heading to Harbor House to pose for photos.
The Common Good Café, which is on the east side of the parking lot, will be serving hot chocolate and cookies from 5:30-7 p.m.
“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” a holiday comedy with a message, begins at 7:30 p.m. on the stage in the Pemetic Elementary School gymnasium. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and children 12 and younger. Another performance is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday.
