Tips to honor fallen SEAL

BAR HARBOR — A Memorial Day benefit at Galyn’s Restaurant will honor the memory of a Navy SEAL killed in action and benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation.
When Chief Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Charles “Charlie” Keating IV was killed in action while conducting U.S. combat operations against ISIS in Iraq on May 3, the loss extended all the way to Bar Harbor. Keating was a friend and extended family member of Galyn’s server Haley Feickert and bartending brothers Andrew and Stephen Leiser.

In Keating’s honor, the three will donate all the tips they receive from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Memorial Day, May 30, to the Navy SEAL Foundation. Galyn’s also will donate all the proceeds from a special “C-4” cocktail to the foundation.

“When Charlie was killed, Brooke and his parents requested that donations be made to the Navy SEAL Foundation in his memory,” Andrew said. “So many of our regular bar customers reached out to us to offer their condolences. This seemed like a good way to give us, and our customers, the opportunity to acknowledge Charlie’s sacrifice and help other SEAL families in the future.”
