SOCKS IN BOXES, BOXES OF SOCKS … Tremont Consolidated School students in kindergarten through second grade collected 258 pairs of socks in boxes set out around the “quiet side” of Mount Desert Island. PRE-VACATION FUN … Tim Bland, school resource officer for several Mount Desert Island schools, gets a whipped cream pie in the face last Friday at MDI High School. The event was a fundraiser to support medical and Christmas needs for the family of Emily Pooler, the Auburn 12-year-old to whom MDIHS staff member Wendy Littlefield recently donated a kidney.
