
SOCKS IN BOXES, BOXES OF SOCKS … Tremont Consolidated School students in kindergarten through second grade collected 258 pairs of socks in boxes set out around the “quiet side” of Mount Desert Island. All of the socks were donated to the Emmaus Center in Ellsworth for Christmas.

PRE-VACATION FUN … Tim Bland, school resource officer for several Mount Desert Island schools, gets a whipped cream pie in the face last Friday at MDI High School. The event was a fundraiser to support medical and Christmas needs for the family of Emily Pooler, the Auburn 12-year-old to whom MDIHS staff member Wendy Littlefield recently donated a kidney. Principal Matt Haney, Dean of Students Ian Braun, Director of Curriculum Julie Keblinsky and Athletic Director Bunky Dow also volunteered to get pies in the face.
