Members of the cast of Mount Desert Island High School’s production of “The Other Shore” celebrate after winning the regional One-Act competition in Bar Harbor on Saturday night. They shared top honors in Class B with Ellsworth High School. They now head to the states. Mary Paola and Natalie Rogers were named to the All Festival Cast. Ted Koffman of Bar Harbor plans to kick off his campaign for the Democratic nomination for the State Senate District 7 seat with a reception at Havana in Bar Harbor on Friday, March 11, from 5-6 p.m. The former state representative and head of Maine Audubon collected signatures at the Democratic caucuses at Mount Desert Island High School on Sunday. He will face Moira O’Neill of Surry in the June primary for the chance to run against Sen. Brian Langley (R-Hancock County) in November. Koffman ran against Langley two years ago. Ellsworth native Jeff Turcotte was presented with the 2016 Maine Lobstermen’s Association Marine Patrol Officer of the Year Award Saturday night at the Fishermen’s Forum in Rockport.
