Superintendent decision near

BAR HARBOR — A new superintendent for the Mount Desert Island Regional School System is expected to be chosen by the school system board Monday evening, March 28.

The board plans to meet behind closed doors to discuss the two finalists for the position, Mike Hammer and Jose Maldonado-Rivera. The first action item on the board’s agenda following the executive session is “Appointment of Superintendent.”

The new superintendent will start the job following the June 30 retirement of Howard Colter.
