Stress reduction sessions set

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Acadia Family Center is now accepting registrations for an eight-week Stress Reduction Group on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7 p.m. beginning March 11.

Participants will learn new relaxation tips each week scientifically developed to calm your mind, relax tense muscles, cope with stress, increase self-awareness and improve your overall health. Jennifer Harry, a mindfulness and meditation coach, will facilitate the sessions.

The Acadia Family Center (AFC) provides a wide range of wellness services to help people achieve physical and emotional health. In addition to programs that target the prevention and treatment of substance abuse and chemical dependency, AFC offers courses in chronic pain management, body work and relationship issues.

“We offer many ways for our clients to address personal challenges, and see this Stress Reduction Group as a good way for people to learn systems for dealing with stresses in healthy ways,” said Daniel Johnson, AFC executive director. “Jen Harry has a solid background in disciplines relating to relaxation techniques, and we believe many people will find this course enormously beneficial as they cope with stress on the job or at home, or as they learn to live in recovery.”

Registration is limited, and registrants for the course are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
