BAR HARBOR — Allied Whale, the marine mammal research lab at College of the Atlantic, will hold its annual spring marine mammal stranding workshop in the lecture hall on Sunday, May 6, from 1-5 p.m.
Anyone interested in learning about marine mammal and sea turtles, stranding response, health assessment, etc., is welcome to attend this free event.
“Harbour seal pupping time is basically underway,” Allied Whale stranding response coordinator Rosemary Seton said in a statement. “As you walk our local beaches, you may come across a seal pup by itself on the beach. What would you do if you did? Would you know what to do? Marine mammals are federally protected, so it is illegal for you to get too close or to touch the animal. Come to the workshop and learn about these animals (and other species of marine life too) and become better informed.”
