Southwest Harbor Water and Sewer gets grant

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — The Southwest Harbor Water and Sewer District has been awarded a $12,500 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The rural development grant will be used for a preliminary engineering study of the district’s wastewater treatment plant to determine upgrades and repairs needed at the facility, according to Steve Kenney, manager of the district. Upgrading filters and controls would greatly improve the treatment process, he said.
