Solar farm plan change

BAR HARBOR — A community solar farm (CSF) project to be built by ReVision Energy and owned by a group of Bar Harbor residents and businesses is now set to be built on the roof of the Public Works Department’s pole barn, rather than on the ground nearby.

Councilors approved the request to change the location after wetland and setback issues came up in the permitting process. The CSF owners plan to form an association which would be liable for any damage to the barn or the roof resulting from the photovoltaic array being there.

A formal lease agreement, for the town to allow the association use of the roof, remains to be negotiated.
