BAR HARBOR — Supporters of a plan to build a skateboarding park on the town athletic fields have another year to complete their project.
By unanimous vote recently, town councilors approved a memorandum of understanding with the Mount Desert Island Skatepark Association outlining a two-phase approach to the project. The group was given a deadline of November 2015 to complete construction of the first phase.
The park is to include both bowl and street elements and is expected to cost upwards of $300,000 in total. The most recent agreement with the skatepark group had placed this fall as the deadline for completion.
