Shellfish group needs members

TREMONT — The Shellfish Management Task Force here is at risk of being terminated. The purpose of the taskforce is “to recommend an approach for improving shellfish health and harvesting.”

With only two volunteers at the moment, the task force hasn’t had a quorum at its meetings. According to the bylaws, the taskforce has to be composed of five members.

At their April 30 meeting, selectmen decided to give residents an opportunity to respond to recruitment calls before taking action.

Unless the Board of Selectmen amends the bylaws, the task force will automatically terminate on June 30.
