SOUTHWEST HARBOR — A second attempt by Town Manager Don Lagrange to get approval for installation of a sewer line along a section of the Freeman Ridge Road failed in a 3-2 vote by selectmen Tuesday.
Lagrange said he was bringing the matter up again because of the “potential there for picking up a fair number of customers.” If the town were to go forward with the sewer line, it would be best to do so before the road is repaved next month.
During discussion, Selectman Chad Terry expressed doubts about Lagrange’s prediction of growth in that area. George Jellison said he would like to see the sewer project put out to bid instead of relying on a quote from one contractor. Lagrange said any delay would push the project into next year.
Terry, Jellison and Lydia Goetze voted in favor of the motion that did away with Lagrange’s proposal and authorized moving ahead with the paving project.
