ELLSWORTH — Friends in Action and Healthy Acadia will offer a free four-class “Eat Smart, Live Strong” series for Hancock County senior community members. The series will be held on Mondays from Nov. 30 to Dec. 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The course will offer participants a fun and relaxed environment in which to learn how to cook healthy on a budget and integrate more physical activity into their lives. The classes will be held at the Moore Community Center in Ellsworth; registration is required.
“Eat Smart, Live Strong is a great training that helps older adults support their health and prevent or delay diet-related disease,” said Nina Zeldin of Healthy Acadia, who will co-teach the class.
Seniors joining this free class series can expect to enjoy a dynamic learning setting. In the classes, participants will learn how to set and reach personal goals around fruit and vegetable intake and physical activity, how to healthfully adapt favorite recipes and how to use cost-saving techniques to extend their food budget. Classes will begin and end with fun exercises that are easy to do at home.
To register, contact Friends in Action at 664-6016 or email Zeldin at [email protected].
