BAR HARBOR — Police were called to investigate a bomb threat found Tuesday on a wall in a boys’ bathroom at Mount Desert Island High School.

School officials reported the incident to Bar Harbor police just before 1 p.m., according to Lt. Dave Kerns. After meeting with school officials, it was decided the threat was not credible and to follow school protocol, which in this case, was not to evacuate the building.

Kerns declined to release the actual message but did say it was bomb-related. Police have interviewed a group of students about the incident, but no one has been charged.

The person who wrote the message could be charged with terrorizing, he said.
