School system budget passes

BAR HARBOR — A budget of just under $1.84 million for the Mount Desert Island Regional School System (MDIRSS) central office for next fiscal year was approved by voters at the school system’s annual budget meeting Jan. 24.

The budget, which the MDIRSS board had approved in December, is 1.19 percent higher than the budget for the current fiscal year.

Registered voters in all eight MDIRSS towns were eligible to vote on the budget, but only 22 votes were cast, all in favor of the budget. A majority of the voters were school employees or board members.
