School safety forum planned

BAR HARBOR — A public forum on school safety and security is planned for Tuesday, March 6, at 6 p.m. in either the theater or gym at Mount Desert Island High School.

“I’ll make some comments about what we are presently doing in our schools regarding safety and security,” said Marc Gousse, superintendent of the MDI Regional School System.

He has asked Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Police Chief Jim Willis, Southwest Harbor Police Chief Alan Brown, Bar Harbor Police Lt. David Kerns, School Resource Officer Tim Bland, school social workers and guidance counselors to be on a panel to talk about safety issues and answer questions from the public.
