SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Claire Sasner has joined the staff at Acadia Family Center as communications and development manager.
“We are so pleased to bring Claire into the AFC family. She is smart, experienced and has an amazing passion for what we do and stand for,” said Executive Director Dan Johnson.
“I am thrilled to join the team at Acadia Family Center!” said Sasner. “This position feels like a combination of my educational training and all of my past jobs rolled into one. AFC has big plans for 2016-2017, and I am honored to use my skills and experience to help it continue to grow and evolve to best meet the needs of our community.”
Sasner is active in the community and was a school board member for Conners Emerson School in Bar Harbor, Mount Desert Island High School and AOS 91 for six years. She also was a member of Bar Harbor’s Warrant Committee. Sasner has worked for many local nonprofits, including The Jackson Laboratory, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Maine and Mount Desert Nursery School. She has a degree in social work from Wheelock College in Boston and a master’s in counseling psychology from the University of Connecticut. Sasner lives in Bar Harbor with her husband and has two children in college.
Acadia Family Center provides prevention, education and outpatient treatment services for adolescents, adults and families affected by substance abuse, chemical dependency and mental health issues.
