Rodick Street restaurant row snow removal eyed

BAR HARBOR — One of the town’s busiest commercial ways should get a little easier to walk on this winter, after town councilors agreed that clearing snow from sidewalks on upper Rodick Street should become a priority.

Although changes to the official snow removal policy will likely be a short while in coming, public works director Chip Reeves said that his crews would begin chipping away at the hard pack of snow and ice that has built up along the street right away.

A letter from the owners of six year-round Rodick Street businesses asking for action was presented Tuesday to councilors by Jeff and Jena Young, the owners of the Side Street Café.
