BAR HARBOR — Police have been responding to numerous traffic accidents this morning as up to five inches of snow continues to fall on the Down East Maine area.
Several cars were reported to have slid off the Eagle Lake Road near Acadia National Park Headquarters on McFarland Hill. Other vehicles were unable to make several of the hills on that road and had to turn around.
Another crash with airbag deployment was reported on Crooked Road.
Area schools remained open although all bus routes for elementary schools in Bar Harbor were well behind schedule.
The National Weather Service’s winter storm warning for the area expires at noon on Friday.
