Restaurant sold at auction

BAR HARBOR — The restaurant formerly operating as Poor Boy’s Gourmet was sold last Thursday at a real estate foreclosure auction.

“The auction was well attended,” said Stef Keenan of Keenan Auction Company in South Portland. The restaurant sold for $510,000. In addition, the buyer will pay over $8,400 in outstanding taxes, water and sewer fees, according to Keenan.

“We cannot disclose the buyer’s information,” he said. “All parties were pleased with the results.”

Poor Boy’s Gourmet had been in business for over 30 years, according to the restaurant’s website. The most recent owner, Chuck Boyle of MTB LLC, bought the building in 2015 for $580,000, according to town tax records.

The seasonal restaurant was last open in Oct. 2018, according to the restaurant’s Facebook page.

The building foreclosed on Feb. 4 for a breach of conditions of the mortgage, according to Hancock County Registry of Deeds.
