Preventing bullying through improv

BAR HARBOR — Amy Roeder, executive director of the Criterion Theatre and an alum of Second City, Improv Asylum, and members of Improv Acadia will host free anti-bullying workshops on Saturday, May 11, at the YWCA Mount Desert Island.

The leaders will use comic improvisation to build listening skills, active listening, and empathy — skills that help mediate and prevent conflict.

The morning session, for kids ages 8-12, runs from noon to 1 p.m. The afternoon session, from 1:30-3:30 p.m., is for adults.

The workshop is limited to 15 spots, and is sponsored by the Bar Harbor Rotary Club.
