Paid parking delayed

With parking meters partially installed and the shipment of kiosks delayed, the paid parking program is set to start on May 22. The permit parking program will start one week later, on May 29.

BAR HARBOR — Paid parking will begin on May 22, delayed from the original May 15 start date, according to Town Clerk Sharon Linscott. The permit parking program will begin one week later, on May 29.

The date changes are due to delays in shipping the kiosks, and meter and sign installations. Likewise, the online system for obtaining permits has been delayed, as staff are now testing the system.

Town Manager Cornell Knight said the permit system will be ready for the public to obtain permits ahead of the May 29 start date.
