One bidder for buses

AUGUSTA – Just one bus manufacturer submitted a bid to the Maine Department of Transportation (DOT) to build 18 replacement buses for the fare-free Island Explorer bus system, which serves Acadia National Park and neighboring towns. The bid deadline was April 21.

Sue Moreau, the DOT’s manager of multimodal planning, said Monday that no information about the bid could be released until the fleet services division has completed negotiations with the bidder.

The MDOT has $4.08 million in federal money available for buying the buses.
