Nomination papers available

BAR HARBOR — Nomination papers are available at the Municipal Building here for two seats on the Town Council and one seat each on the Superintending School Committee and Mount Desert Island High School Board of Trustees.

In order to qualify, a candidate must secure between 25 and 100 signatures from registered voters in Bar Harbor. The deadline for signed nomination papers to be returned is April 27.

Terms are expiring for two councilors, Gary Friedmann and Peter St. Germain, this year. Both Friedmann and St. Germain have returned papers for re-election, according to Deputy Clerk Sharon Linscott.

No others have returned papers.

Marie Yarborough, whose term is expiring on the School Committee, is the only one who has turned in papers for the seat.

MDIHS trustees Vice Chair Robert Jordan Jr.’s term is expiring this year. He and Fred Cook have returned papers for the third Bar Harbor trustee seat.
