New Schoodic Institute directors named



WINTER HARBOR — Kenneth Cline of Bar Harbor and J. Cody Harper van Heerden of Northeast Harbor have been elected to the board of directors of the Schoodic Institute at Acadia National Park

Of the new board members, Schoodic Institute President and CEO Mark Berry said, “They each bring great talents and relevant experience that will make them assets as Schoodic Institute focuses on its mission to advance ecosystem science and learning for all ages – and they are each delightful to work with.”

Since 1989, Cline has been professor of environmental law and policy at College of the Atlantic. He is a board member of the Frenchman Bay Conservancy and is active in statewide and local conservation efforts.

Cody van Heerden has served on the boards of Acadia Wildlife Foundation, the Neighborhood House and the Mt. Desert Nursery School. Since 2005, she has been an active trustee of the College of the Atlantic, where she is currently completing a third master’s degree in human ecology with a focus on institutional economics.

Van Heerden co-owns and runs Artemis Gallery in Northeast Harbor.
