‘Money Matters’ class for women

BAR HARBOR — The YWCA Mount Desert Island is sponsoring a series of classes on financial literacy for women. Classes continue on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 8:30 a.m. at 36 Mount Desert St., Bar Harbor.

Instructor Anne Gibson from Gibson Financial Solution will lead the Money Matters class. By the end of this class, participants will understand how to manage money by preparing a personal spending plan and identifying ways to decrease spending and increase income. The monthly classes are free, and childcare is provided upon request.

Anne Gibson is the primary service provider for Gibson Financial Solutions and specializes in financial planning and investment management.

The Money Smart for Adults instructor-led curriculum from the FDIC, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, consists of eleven training modules that cover basic financial topics. Topics include a description of deposit and credit services offered by financial institutions, choosing and maintaining a checking account, spending plans, the importance of saving, how to obtain and use credit effectively and the basics of building or repairing credit.
