Meetings on demand

BAR HARBOR — Meetings of the Town Council and other town boards and committees will soon be available on-demand online, as well as broadcast live.

At their meeting Tuesday, councilors unanimously approved a proposal to switch from the current DVD-based system of recording and re-broadcasting to a web-based service called Town Hall Streams. The $250/month service includes a web archive of meetings for five years.

Town Manager Cornell Knight said the town will pay for the service with funds in a capital improvement fund set up for replacement of the current DVD equipment for the rest of this fiscal year.
