MDI residents hold vigil in memory of Orlando shooting victims

BAR HARBOR — Residents of Mount Desert Island stood in solidarity with the people of Orlando on Monday evening during a candlelight vigil honoring the memories of the 48 people killed in a massacre at the Pulse nightclub there early Sunday morning.

Organizers shared their desire for people to live without violence and the nearly 70 people attending joined in a non-denominational prayer led by Rev. Timothy Fleck. George Neptune sang a Passamaquoddy funeral song.

Organizer Andrew Daul read names of the victims of what is being called the worst mass shooting in American history, and the largest terrorist attack on American soil since 9-11, aloud.
