MDI budget approved

BAR HARBOR — A total of 25 residents of the four Mount Desert Island towns turned out for MDI High School’s annual budget meeting April 2 and approved a $9.3-million budget for next fiscal year.

Nearly all of those who attended the meeting were school personnel or board members.

The new high school budget is $307,403 higher than the budget for the current year, an increase of 4.32 percent. The increase is due largely to cost-of-living salary hikes and higher health insurance and teacher retirement costs.
