Hannah Shaw
NEW YORK CITY — A Southwest Harbor native and graduate of Mount Desert Island High School lost her life in a tragic accident here early Friday morning.
Hannah Shaw, the daughter of Sam Shaw of Northeast Harbor and Cranberry Island, and Jane Tawney of Southwest Harbor, fell several stories to her death outside of her boyfriend’s apartment in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn at 4:40 a.m. Friday, according to The New York Daily News. Ms. Shaw was a 2003 graduate of Mount Desert Island High School in Bar Harbor and later graduated from Hampshire College. She had been living in New York since 2007.
A Facebook page, Remembering Hannah Shaw, was set up Saturday morning and had garnered nearly 400 likes by the afternoon. Many commenters took the opportunity on the page to offer condolences to Shaw’s family and to express their grief and shock over the accident.
