BAR HARBOR — YWCA of Mount Desert Island raised $2,327 for cancer survivors with proceeds from the 18th Annual Carol Dyer Luminaria Evening held in August. The funds will be donated to the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center in Ellsworth.
“YWCA MDI is proud to support the Beth C. Wright Cancer Center,” said Executive Director Jackie Davidson. “Their expertise and kindness make our community a more compassionate place to live.”
The Carol Dyer Memorial Luminaria Evening is sponsored by YWCA MDI as a ceremony of remembrance and hope, honoring survivors and those who have lost their battle with cancer. It was started by the Friends of Carol Dyer, the beloved children’s librarian for the Jesup Memorial Library who passed away from a brain tumor in 2001.
