Library grants available

ELLSWORTH — The Maine Community Foundation’s Rose and Samuel Rudman Library Trust is accepting applications for grants to support programs at libraries in Aroostook, Hancock, Knox, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Waldo and Washington counties.

The Rose and Samuel Rudman Library Trust was established in 1986 to help libraries better serve communities in Maine with populations of less than 10,000. On business travels in Maine, Samuel Rudman was struck by the commitment to learning and reading at libraries in towns he passed through, regardless of size.

Rudman grants allow small libraries to create programs tied to their collections, share resources, collaborate with community groups and find other innovative ways to serve the community.

Grant proposals must be submitted by Jan. 15. Visit

A statewide organization with offices in Ellsworth and Portland, the Maine Community Foundation works with donors and other partners to improve the quality of life for all Maine people.
