Lectures to spotlight international affairs

BAR HARBOR — Former National Security Advisor Susan Rice, former U.S. Senator George Mitchell and a host of international political experts will highlight the 2018 College of the Atlantic Champlain Institute: International Affairs, which runs this summer from Saturday, July 28, through Friday, Aug. 3.

Rice and Mitchell will be joined by former acting Solicitor General of the United States Neal Katyal, journalist Eliza Griswold, ambassadors, senior armed forces members, security experts and others in an exploration of cyber warfare, terrorism, trade disputes, civil wars, Russia, North Korea and other hotspots around the globe.

“We’re gathering the top minds in the country to delve into some of the most charged global-political situations out there,” said COA President Darron Collins. “I can’t think of a more pertinent set of topics for the college and the Mount Desert Island community to reflect upon than the challenges we face across the globe.”

With nearly a dozen panels and presentations over the week, the 2018 COA Champlain Institute promises an intellectually stimulating, energetic program.
