Krieg hired as county planner

ELLSWORTH — Anne Krieg will join the Hancock County Planning Commission as regional planner.

Krieg will fill the vacancy created by Jen Boothroyd’s departure in October. She will assist Hancock County municipalities with a variety of planning and development issues, as well as coordinate with state and federal agencies on regional planning initiatives.

“Working with multiple communities on a variety of planning related issues is of great interest to me, and doing this work with HCPC will allow me to work in the area where I live and am most familiar,” wrote Krieg in her application. “I understand the issues facing Hancock County with affordable housing, economic development and the challenges faced by inland communities as well as coastal areas.”

Krieg comes to HCPC with nearly 30 years of experience in the planning field. Most recently, Krieg worked as executive director of Mid Coast Regional Planning Commission. There, she provided assistance with comprehensive plans and ordinance and board review services, as well as worked on two bike-pedestrian plans and two corridor management plans. Her prior work experiences include director of planning for Bridgton, town planner for Bar Harbor and town planner for Reading, Mass.

“Anne Krieg will be a welcome addition to the HCPC staff,” said Sheri Walsh, interim executive director. “She impressed the interview committee with her knowledge of the issues facing Hancock County, her ideas for community outreach and ways in which HCPC can assist our member communities, and her enthusiasm for planning.”
