BAR HARBOR — The Christmas Spirit Shop of Bar Harbor, in partnership with the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce, hosted its 7th annual Kids Coloring Contest at the Mount Desert Island YMCA on Dec. 4 as part of the Village Holidays activities for kids.

Over 40 children up to the age of 10 drew a colored picture of what Christmas means to them. Olivia Bond, age 5, and Mia Shaw, age 8, were the first-place winners in their respective age categories, each winning a $100 gift certificate from the Christmas Spirit Shop. Second-place winners were twins Sophia and Morgan Wheeler, both 6 years old, who tied in their age group, and Mai Ishimura, age 9. The twins each won a $25 gift certificate, while Mai won a $50 gift certificate. The idea for the coloring contest came from the success of the coloring room for kids located in the back of the shop, where young children color while their parents shop.
