TREMONT — Maine Coast Heritage Trust (MCHT) invites the public to celebrate the bounty and beauty of fall at its community Fall Celebration at Kelley Farm Preserve, 262 Tremont Road, Bernard on Saturday, Sept. 19, from noon to 3 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, Sept. 20. This event is free.
Kelley Farm is a 10-acre community preserve owned and maintained by MCHT and open for the public’s enjoyment year-round. Area residents are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy the rolling meadows, gardens, walking paths and coastline of this classic Maine saltwater farm.
Members of the MCHT staff will be on hand to answer questions about the preserve and conservation efforts in the area. In addition, several community partners will take part in the celebration. The Common Good Community will share soup and popovers, and Healthy Acadia will offer heirloom apple tastings and cider pressing. Staff from Camp Beech Cliff will lead an arts and crafts project. Guests also are invited to explore the gardens, grown by high-school students as part of MCHT’s new Teen Agricultural program and learn about local community gardens and the Kids Can Grow program.
Two local musical groups will perform throughout the afternoon. The Southside Musical Barnstormers, featuring Brian Kupiec and Bill Haynes Sr., will play at 12:30 p.m. The duo performs a mix of ballads, acoustic rock and blues. At 2:30 p.m., The Gray Farm Trio & Friends, featuring Rick Barter, Beth Herrick and Amy Kurmana, will perform a mix of old and new acoustic songs.
