CHAMBER ROCK STARS … The New York City-based Escher Quartet is set to play a program of Schubert, Webern and Dohnányi at the Neighborhood House in Northeast Harbor Tuesday, July 24, at 7:30 p.m. Schubert’s String Quartet in D Minor, known as “Death and the Maiden,” is part of the program. ROCKABILLY PHILOSOPHERS … Country rock/rockabilly band Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters will perform at The Criterion Theatre on Friday, Aug. 3. Frontman Thornton is joined by organist Teddy Andreadis and guitarist and Boxmasters co-founder J.D. Andrew. The theme of the band’s new album, “Speck,” Thornton said, is “that we are all specks in this universe trying to navigate it, during trying times in the world we still have our own loves, desires, problems and dreams as individuals.” Tickets are on sale at www.criteriontheatre.org. ART AUCTION CONTINUES … This painting of sunset over Bass Harbor is part of the “Celebration of Art” auction under way through Aug. 4 at the Southwest Harbor Public Library. Each year the exhibit includes a selection of paintings, sculpture, pottery, stained glass and other media created by area artists. Artists donate a portion of the sale price of their work to support the library’s programs, collections and services.
