Houseboat, donation questions pass

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — By a vote of 600-217, residents here on Tuesday banned the mooring of most houseboats in the town’s coastal waters.

They voted 681-136 to lift a ban on fishing from town piers.

By an even larger margin, 730-122, voters authorized a one-time donation of $1,000 to the Westside Food Pantry from revenues of the town’s thrift shop at the transfer station.

The vote was 644-122 to authorize town officials to accept an easement for the parking area on the north side of the commercial building on Village Green Way. The towns needs the easement to continue clearing snow from the area without incurring liability for any damages.
